Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has opened up about her relationship standards, revealing the qualities she considers red flags in a potential partner.

Speaking in a recent interview with American media platform Complex, the Love Me Jeje crooner said she cannot date anyone who is not friendly or who lacks curiosity about their partner. She noted that such traits undermine the purpose of being in a relationship.

“My dating terms are someone who is not trying to be your friend is a red flag. Anybody that isn’t curious about you is also a red flag,” Tems said. “Because what are we doing? Why are we here if you don’t want to know me?”

The global star advised that any relationship where one partner shows little interest in understanding the other should be ended immediately.

She further described herself as a “lover girl,” but added that she is now more cautious because of her past experiences in relationships.

Tems said she is currently prioritising self-love, explaining that loving and understanding oneself forms the foundation for healthier relationships in the future.
