From Fred Ezeh, Abuja

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has been decorated as the “Star Associate of President Tinubu” and has also emerged as the Grand Patron of the Nationwide Tinubu Connect Associates (NTCA), a pro-Tinubu movement.

The Coordinator/President of the group, Hon. Henry Nwabueze, who led a delegation of NTCA leaders to the SGF’s office for the event, stated that Sen. Akume’s dedication to Nigeria’s service and support for the Tinubu administration made him the best choice for the position. He also noted that Akume is the first recipient of the “Star Associate of President Tinubu” award, which recognises individuals in various fields whose efforts promote the President’s vision for a better Nigeria.

Hon. Nwabueze added that members of the movement, both at home and abroad, unanimously endorsed Akume as the Grand Patron of NTCA, leading to the recognition and decoration.

*”For several years, even before some of us were born, Senator Akume has continued to serve this nation in diverse capacities. Whether as a Permanent Secretary or Governor in his native Benue State, Sen. Akume has, for over 50 years, upheld the principles of service and servant-leadership, producing men and women of great repute and honour.

“Whether as a Senator, Minister, or now Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Akume’s place in Nigeria’s history remains one of honour and well-deserved recognition.

“So, as we decorate him as our Grand Patron and Star Associate of President Tinubu, the first in our list for such honours, we are merely reaffirming the decision of those who saw his leadership potential decades ago—leading to his appointment in the Benue Plateau Civil Service, his rise to Permanent Secretary in Benue State, and his subsequent roles as Governor, Senator, Minister, and now SGF,”* he said.

In his remarks, the SGF appreciated the recognition and pledged continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies aimed at ensuring national security and economic stability.

He also urged Nigerians to remain hopeful in the administration, assuring them that the benefits of its socioeconomic reforms would soon be evident.
