The Society for Family Health (SFH), in partnership with Niger Government, has begun the mobilisation of households for the distribution of free Insecticide-Treated Nets campaign in the state.

Marianne Abioyo, the Coordinator for the Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) and ITN campaign for Paikoro Local Government, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Paikoro on Tuesday.

Abioyo said the campaign also involves SMC intervention through the administration of Sulfadoxine-Pyrimethamine-Amodiaquine (SPAQ) to eligible children, aged 3 to 59 months, to prevent malaria.

Abioyo disclosed that SPAQ administration across 11 wards of Paikoro by Community Mobilisers and Distributors (CMDs) was ongoing in all the wards of the LGA.

She also said that mobilisation of households for ITNs distribution is also ongoing across eight hard-to-reach wards of Paikoro, adding that three wards were not to receive nets.

“The teams are already in the field mobilising households and issuing them with token slips that will be used to collect their nets at designated distribution points,” she said.

She further disclosed that 43,000 slips had already been distributed to households in Paikoro LGA.

NAN reports that about 3.2 million ITNs would be distributed during the 2025 ITNs campaign across Niger state. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
