The Kano State Police Command has taken into custody 10 suspects linked to receiving stolen motorcycles and recovered seven stolen bikes in its continued clampdown on motorcycle theft across the state.
The breakthrough came after the arrest of a notorious motorcycle thief, Dahiru Jibrin, on August 11, 2025. Further investigations carried out by the Anti-Cyber Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department resulted in the recovery of the stolen motorcycles.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the breakthrough and noted that the recovered motorcycles have already been returned to their rightful owners.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved in the investigation for their professionalism, diligence, and dedication to duty,” Kiyawa stated.
The statement added, “We urge members of the public to continue supporting the Police by providing timely information and cooperating in efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.”
The Command reaffirmed its resolve to step up operations aimed at ensuring offenders face justice while also working to curb future incidents of motorcycle theft.
