Serie A: Again, Lookman scores as Atalanta stun Fiorentina to extend winning run

Atalanta continued their strong form on Sunday with a composed 2–0 victory over Fiorentina at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo, thanks to goals from Odilon Kossounou and Ademola Lookman.

Lookman, who scored in Atalanta’s 3–0 Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek, found the net again as Raffaele Palladino’s side secured back-to-back victories.

Fiorentina threatened early when Marco Carnesecchi made two crucial saves in the 4th minute, denying Moise Kean and Roberto Piccoli. Atalanta responded with sustained pressure, but David de Gea kept out efforts from Gianluca Scamacca, Davide Zappacosta and Charles De Ketelaere.

The breakthrough came in the 41st minute as Kossounou rifled home his first goal for Atalanta after being set up by De Ketelaere. Lookman struck the post shortly before halftime.

Atalanta resumed their dominance after the break, and Lookman doubled the lead in the 51st minute, reacting quickest to a loose ball from a corner to fire past De Gea.

The hosts continued to press, with Lookman nearly assisting Marten de Roon moments later, while Scamacca made a vital defensive clearance to deny Kean at the other end.

Fiorentina’s best chance came in the 76th minute when Kean’s header hit the post, but Atalanta held firm to secure another clean sheet.

The victory strengthens Atalanta’s momentum as they continue to climb with confidence in Serie A.
