Serie A: Ademola Lookman set for Atalanta return against Lecce

Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman could return to Atalanta’s first-team squad for Sunday’s Serie A clash with Lecce.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 27-year-old will be assessed in Saturday’s training session, and if declared fit, is expected to be included in Ivan Juric’s matchday squad.

Lookman featured in both of Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifiers, scoring in the 1-0 win over Rwanda and playing in the 1-1 draw with South Africa, before rejoining Atalanta.

Lookman endured a turbulent summer after handing in a transfer request and seeing a €45m bid from Inter rejected.

He accused the club of breaking promises and briefly trained in the UK before returning to Bergamo just days before the Serie A season kicked off.

Despite strained relations, Lookman remains part of Juric’s plans for the 2025/26 campaign, and his availability would be a boost as Atalanta look to push on in the league.
