From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
A septuagenarian, Isaac Morakinyo Jolapamo, has urged the court to end his eight-year marriage over alleged attempt by his wife, Olufunke, to kill him.
He told the Osun State High Court, Osogbo, that Olufunke was in the marriage to strip him off his properties and she has achieved it, saying that she was attempting to kill him.
Led in evidence by his counsel, Wale Afolabi and Fatimah Adesina, the respondent said he did not oppose the divorce filed by his wife and urged the court to dissolve the marriage.
Tendering the certificate of marriage held on February 23, 2017, Jolapamo said co-habitation with his wife seized in 2019. Noting that there are no children in the marriage, the respondent said: “Her mission was to strip me off my properties and she succeeded. She attempted to kill me and she attempted to send me to jail.”
The petitioner, Olufunke Jolapamo, who was led in evidence by her counsel, Ridwan Ayanbiyi and Kazeem Afolabi, said she adopted the claims in her address before the court.
She confirmed that there are no children in the marriage and she has seized living with the respondent since 2019.
Justice Michael Awe thereby adjourned to March 12, for adoption of final address.
