Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, is calling for a live broadcast of her senate probe proceedings, scheduled to take place on March 1, 2025, at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
The probe was initiated after Akpoti-Uduaghan disrupted the senate plenary on February 20, 2025, by rejecting her assigned seat and defying Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s order. She repeatedly raised a point of order despite being overruled.
The upper chamber had referred her to the committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions for disciplinary review.
Akpoti-Uduaghan however stated that she is ready to face the panel, but insists that the proceedings should be transparent and open to the public.
“In as much as I have refrained from publicly speaking on matters and a lot of occurrences at the Senate under Senate President Akpabio, it’s about time I break my silence,” she said in a statement posted on her X page on Thursday,

The senator has also filed a N100 billion defamation suit against Akpabio, alleging that he and his legislative aide, Mfon Patrick, made defamatory comments against her.
In a response to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s demands, Senate President Akpabio’s spokesperson, Patrick, stated that “the senate probe is a standard procedure, and the committee will ensure that the proceedings are fair and just.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan further urged Nigerians to follow the proceedings closely and has invited the media to cover the probe live.
“And to Nigerians, please be sure to join the probe which I shall insist would be covered live.
“The next few days and weeks shall be interesting but will shape the standard and quality of Nigeria’s leadership,” she added.
