Senate Unseals Senator Natasha’s Office, Grants Access to NASS Premises

Security operatives at the National Assembly have unsealed the office of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, and granted her access to the premises.

The move comes as the Senate prepares to resume plenary sessions on October 7, following an extended recess.

The office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was sealed earlier this year after Akpoti-Uduaghan was handed a six-month suspension in March for alleged misconduct, including protesting a reassignment of her seating position in the chamber.

The suspension, which barred her from Senate activities, salaries, and access to the National Assembly Complex, was set to expire in September but lingered due to ongoing legal battles and internal Senate resistance.

Sergeant-at-Arms personnel, alongside combined security teams from the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and other agencies, carried out the unsealing on Tuesday morning.

Sources within the Senate leadership indicated that the decision was reached during a closed-door meeting on Monday, aimed at de-escalating the rift between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
