The Senate Tuesday confirmed appointments of Dr Aminu Yusuf from Niger state, as Chairman of the National Population Commission ( NPC) .

The red chamber also confirmed the appointments of Kigbu Joseph Haruna from Nasarawa State and Tonga Betara Bularafa from Yobe state as commissioners .

Confirmation of the appointments by the Senate followed adoption of a report presented to that effect by its committee on National Identity and National Population.

The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Victor Umeh (Anambra Central), had while presenting the report, submitted that the nominees were found worthy of appointments nominated for by President Bola Tinubu and should be confirmed by the Senate.

President Tinubu had penultimate week, forwarded to the Senate, appointments of the now confirmed nominees for confirmation.

In his remarks after the appointments confirmation, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, urged the appointees to give their best for the national assignment .
