Senator representing Imo East Senatorial Zone, Ezenwa Onyewuchi, has kicked off the second batch of the training programme for science teachers in the zone.

The training is aimed at equipping the teachers with modern methods of teaching science subjects in the 21st century.

A statement made available to Daily Sun confirmed that the initiative was sponsored by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and targeted at 50 secondary schools across the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the senatorial zone.

According to the statement, the training programme focuses on enhancing teachers’ ability to impact knowledge in science subjects like chemistry, biology, physics, ICT, data processing, and mathematics.

By so doing, Sen. Onyewuchi hopes to empower students to become innovative, lifelong learners who can compete globally.

“Notably, this is the second batch of the programme, following the successful training of 70 science teachers from 35 secondary schools across the nine LGAs in April 2024.

“At the end of this training, teachers and schools who participated will receive laptops, tablets, interactive boards, and other learning aids to practice their newfound skills for the benefit of their students.

“Sen. Onyewuchi has continued to demonstrate commitment to education, human capacity, and community development,” the statement read.
