Self rreliance: Zamfara monarch advocates entrepreneurship among youth


Emir of Kaura Namoda, Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha has appealed to youths in his Emirate to embrace entrepreneurship skills for them to become self employed at the end of their study in school.

The Emir made the call when he flag off three days vocational training to 167 students, organized by Almustaqil school of technology and vocational training Kaura Namoda Saturday.

According to him, the training was in partnership with federal ministry of education TVET and National Board of Technical Education accredited TVET innovative programs.

“Entrepreneurship skills are the best tools to be given to our youth while in tertiary institutions in order to create job opportunities for themselves at the end of their study”, the Emir stated

He maintained that at the end of the vocational training, the participants will be issued a genuine certificate.

He suggested that the Almustaqil School technology and vocational training should give 30% as theory in class and give 70% as practical to students to enhance professional skills acquisition among students.

The Monarch emphasized that government alone can not provide employment for all, noting that it is high time for the youths to change the narration by embarrassing technical skills while in school to become self employed.

In his speech, the Director, Almustaqil School of Technology and Vocational Training Center, Kaura Namoda, Mohammed A. Nasiru Makwashi, said the Theme of the training is empowering youths through technical and vocational skills for sustainable development.

According to him, under the NBTE TVET Initiative Program, the institution has been approved to offer twelve trades, during the training exercise.

He maintained that the approved trades included, Poultry Farming, Tailoring/Fashion Design, Catering and Hotel Management, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Computer Operations Social media, Welding and Fabrication among others.
