Security Forces Rescue Eight Kidnapped Passengers in Kogi



Security forces in Kogi State have rescued eight passengers kidnapped by gunmen along the Okene-Auchi highway on Monday, October 6, at approximately 3:48 p.m. 

According to reports, about 15 armed men dressed in military camouflage attacked a Toyota Hiace Hummer bus (registration: EDO UBJ 114 ZY) operated by Big Joe Ventures Ltd., carrying 11 passengers from Abuja to Benin, Edo State.During the assault, one female passenger, Adesuwat Bright, was shot in the left shoulder and was promptly taken to CUSTECH Hospital, Okene, for treatment. 

Following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer mobilized Police Mobile Force operatives and local vigilantes, engaging the kidnappers in a gun battle in the bush. 

The confrontation forced the assailants to abandon eight passengers, who were rescued unharmed.However, two passengers remain in captivity as the kidnappers fled. 

Police have launched a manhunt and bush-combing operations to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the suspects.
