LAGOS – As part of his administration’s efforts to creating a seamless and integrated network for more travel options, greater convenience, and improved connectivity for residents, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday commissioned the Abule Egba Bus Terminal in Abule Egba area of the state.
Speaking during the event on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu said that the project is in fulfilment of his pledge to the people of Lagos State to upgrade public transportation system with modern, sustainable infrastructure to enable them meet up their daily aspirations.
While handing over the road project to the residents, the governor said that it is “another public infrastructure that will aid their seamless commuting from here to other parts of Lagos and perhaps to other parts of our country, Nigeria.”
The governor, who noted that the infrastructure reflects the government’s commitment to continuously enhancing public transportation systems, strengthening connectivity, and improving the overall experience for commuters, added: “We are dedicated to taking ongoing steps to advance and modernize transportation across the state.”
Sanwo-Olu said, “In addition to the Blue and Red Rail Lines in operation, we have initiated moves to kickstart the 68-kilometre Green Line from Marina to Lekki Free Zone and the 60-kilometre Purple Line from the Redemption Camp in Ogun State to Volkswagen area on the Lagos Badagry Expressway to connect with the Blue Line.”
To further enhance the Lagos bus services, Sanwo-Olu said that the state government is “anticipating the arrival of new CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) buses and electric buses by the third quarter of this year.
