Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced a 50 percent reduction in fares on the state’s Blue Line rail service to mark its second anniversary.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, ahead of Thursday, when the fare reduction will take effect.
In a statement, the governor highlighted the progress of the Blue Line since its inauguration in September 2023 on the Marina–Mile 2 corridor.

“In just two years, the Blue Line has transported more than five million passengers safely. Trains now operate at 10-minute intervals, completing over 90 trips daily.
“What used to be long, stressful journeys are now faster and more convenient,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor emphasised that the rail project has become a symbol of what can be achieved through dedication and collective effort.

“I am pleased to announce a 50 percent fare reduction on the Blue Line for tomorrow, Thursday, September 4, 2025.
“If you haven’t experienced the Blue Line yet, I encourage you to take a ride and see what we’ve built together,” he added.
Sanwo-Olu also assured Lagos residents that the state government remains committed to improving mobility across the city through infrastructure expansion.
“Our journey is far from over. Step by step, we are creating the Lagos we all desire,” the governor stated.
