Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Minister of Education, Dr. Moruf Olatunji Alausa, and former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, have commended the Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Olatunji Bello, for his significant contributions to education and human development.
The commendations were made during the official handover ceremony of a newly-constructed 550-capacity auditorium, donated by Bello to the Lagos State University (LASU) campus in Epe.
The ultra-modern facility, named the Olatunji-Bello Auditorium, was built as part of the donor’s effort to enhance educational infrastructure and contribute meaningfully to society.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his address at the event, commended Bello’s vision and described the donation as a remarkable gesture towards academic excellence and public service.
“This modern facility is more than just a building; it is a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and intellectual engagement. It will serve as a hub for academic discourse, cultural exchange, and strategic gatherings, enriching the learning environment and inspiring students to strive for excellence,”Sanwo-Olu said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education through the Education and Technology pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda, aimed at delivering world-class infrastructure and producing globally competitive graduates.
Chairman of the occasion, the minister of Education, Dr. Moruf Alausa, in his goodwill message, applauded Bello’s dedication to educational development and urged other stakeholders to emulate his example by investing in innovative academic infrastructure.
Alausa reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing education and technology in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Also in his remarks, Aremo Osoba lauded Bello for his selfless investment in education and described the project as a gift that would benefit generations to come.
He described the FCCPC boss as a man of honour who remains committed to uplifting society.
Vice Chancellor of LASU and wife of the donor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, expressed deep appreciation to all dignitaries present.
She praised her husband’s unwavering belief in the power of education and noted that the new auditorium aligns with the university’s strategic goal of developing future-ready leaders through enhanced infrastructure.
In his address, Bello restated his commitment to supporting the state’s educational initiatives and called on students to make effective use of the new facility.
“This is not just a hall for academic learning, but a testament to what is possible when faith, purpose, and public interest converge,” he said.
“Let it be recognised that today we are commissioning not just a building, but a vision for the future, ”he added.
