Sanusi’s Environmental Systemic Approach Working Wonders In Amuwo-Odofin LG -Says Aide   – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

As a display of his commitment to residents of Amuwo Odofin Local Government and a follow-up to the promise made during the campaign period, Chairman of the Local Government Area, Lanre Sanusi, has fully embarked on the environmental sanitation drive in the area.

Kola Folorunso, an aide to the council boss, while speaking with Independent, said: “For many years, the residents have been groaning, experiencing the hard bite of road degradation and environmental pollution in the local government area.”

Speaking on the LG boss’ determination to boost infrastructure in the area, Foloruno said: “As a native and son of the soil in Amuwo land, Sanusi was not comfortable with the deplorable situation of the infrastructural development and environmental comatose of an Estate once known as the best in Africa, Festac Town.”

Foloruno said that holding on to pragmatism, the “Amuwo council boss, in the last two weeks, has led the full environmental task force with the joint efforts of the men of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), Lagos State Joint Task Force, Amuwo Odofin Environmental Task Force and men of the Nigerian Police, to re-write the environmental history of the local government.

“So far so good, the feelers among the residents since the environmental crusade in Festac Town began has been fantastic.”

Many of the residents commended the local government boss for his bold resolve to embark on the re-enactment and renaissance of the Festac 1977.

“Today, the Prince Lanre Sanusi and Lagos State Government Joint Task Force train arrived in the Fourth Avenue, 401 Road and 22 Road areas of the local government for the operation Keep Festac Environment Clean,” Folorunso added.

On the efforts to sanitise the area, Sanusi, said: “I am deeply aware that the ongoing efforts to clear our drainage, roads, and shop areas have affected some of our hardworking traders and residents. I do not take your sacrifices lightly.

“These decisions are not made to hurt you but to secure a brighter and healthier future for all of us. A community without order cannot grow; a road without drainage cannot last; and a business environment without proper structure cannot thrive.”

While appealing for patience and understanding of the residents over the on-going exercise, Sanusi said: “Please know that every action being taken today is with one goal in mind—to make Amuwo Odofin a better, safer, and more prosperous home for all.”

The LG boss, who assured them that their sacrifices will not be in vain, said: “Together, we will rebuild, we will grow, and we will make Amuwo Odofin great again.”
