The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, of sabotaging education development in the state.
Senior Special Assistant to the National Chairman of PDP on Media and Communication, Yusuf Dingyadi, made the disclosure during a press conference in Kaduna.
The party raised the alarm that Sani has allegedly been using his office to prevent the Chairman, Senate Committee on Basic Education, Lawal Adamu, representing Kaduna Central on the PDP platform, from distributing learning and teaching material to his constituents.
According to the PDP, the All Progressives Congress-led state government has deliberately refused to distribute teaching and learning materials, including textbooks and notebooks, to primary and junior secondary schools in the constituencies of the lawmaker.
The PDP claimed that the move was aimed at discrediting Adamu, who has been working to improve education in the state. The party also accused APC of hiring political propagandists to spread false information about Adamu’s achievements.
According to him, “Teaching and learning materials, including textbooks, notebooks and others that could have helped the intending beneficiaries and improve the quality of education at primary and junior secondary levels are kept in stores.
“Unfortunately, a directive was allegedly made that these materials should not be distributed at the LEA Malali Road, LEA Maiduguri Road among other places. It is expected that the state government, irrespective of political party, will work together with other elected representatives of the people to improve the living standard of the Kaduna populace.”
