Russia-Ukraine War: Make a deal or forget it — Trump tells Zelensky

4 hours ago 20

The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has urged his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, to strike a deal with the US over the war with Russia.

Trump made this disclosure on Friday while hosting Zelensky at the Oval Office.

According to Trump, Zelensky should reach an agreement with the US, or the latter would withdraw its support.

“Make a deal, or we’re out,” he told Zelensky.

Earlier, Zelensky had stated that there should be “no compromises” with Vladimir Putin, but Trump insisted that Kyiv would have to make concessions to secure a peace deal with Russia.

Reacting, the BBC reported that Tom Bateman described the situation as, “perhaps the most critical political and diplomatic moment for Zelensky since Russia’s full-scale invasion.”

The Friday talks come a week after Zelensky said Trump was engaged in a war of words over accusations and counter-accusations about who was responsible for the three-year war with Russia.

While Russia has backed Trump’s peace resolution, Zelensky previously insisted that any agreement made without Kyiv’s involvement would not be respected by Ukraine.

It will be recalled that in February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, marking the beginning of an escalating crisis.
