Russia election: UK rejects President Putin’s re-election
The United Kingdom has slammed Russia over the re-election
of President Vladimir Putin.
Britain’s Foreign Minister, David Cameron, said the election
that brought Putin back to office was not conducted in a manner that was
considered free and fair.
He said this in a statement on Sunday.
He suggested that the Russian President had won re-election
with ease.
“The polls have closed in Russia, following the illegal
holding of elections on Ukrainian territory, a lack of choice for voters and no
independent OSCE monitoring.
“This is not what free and fair elections look like,” he
said.
