The Rotary Action Group for Peace (RAGFP)  Monday announced a partnership with the presidency through the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to implement the National Community Violence Reduction Programme (NCVRP) aimed at addressing insecurity across Nigeria.

Speaking at the maiden press briefing of the Kaduna branch of the group held in Kaduna, the state coordinator, Babatunde Luqman Temidayo, said the initiative will adopt a people-centred, community-driven approach to reduce violence and promote peaceful coexistence nationwide.

Temidayo added that the NCVRP will leverage the collaboration of key stakeholders to tackle threats such as terrorism, banditry, radicalism and communal conflicts through non-kinetic and human security interventions.

He said, “The new partnership between Rotary and the Office of the National Security Adviser opens a new vista in non-kinetic approaches to addressing Nigeria’s peace and security challenges.”

He added that the programme targets all six geopolitical zones and will focus on enhancing community resilience, strengthening local governance, supporting victims of violence and promoting social cohesion among diverse groups.

Temidayo also commended the Kaduna state Peace Commission for fostering dialogue and unity among communities, describing the state as a model in peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
