Reps’ Bill For Federal College Of Science, Health Tech In Borno Scales 3rd Reading


DAMATURU – Members of the House of Representatives at Tuesday plenary successfully passed the Bill for 3rd Reading to establish Federal College of Science and Health Technology in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

The health institution when established would provide job opportunities, enable many youths from Southern Borno Senatorial District, Mubi North and South, Gombi and other local government areas from the neighboring Adamawa state, including those from Cameroon Republic to enroll and study various medical courses.

Recalled that the Bill hitherto passed first and second reading at the floor of the house was sponsored by Hon. Dr. Midala Balami, member representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency of Borno state.

Just last week, a Bill seeking for creation of Savannah state, out of current Borno state which were sponsored by Balami and his colleagues representing Biu/Kwaya Kusar/ Shani/Bayo, Hon. Muktari Betara and member representing Gwoza/Chibok/Damboa, Ahmed Usman Jaha also scaled second reading at plenary.

Addresing journalists in Maiduguri, Hon. Balami appreciated other sponsors of the bill and the support received from his colleagues.

“This Bill aims to establish a specialized institution dedicated to providing quality education in science and health-related fields, thereby helping to address critical human resource gaps in the region and across Nigeria.

“With its passage, the proposed college is now a step closer to becoming a reality representing a significant milestone in advancing education and strengthening healthcare capacity in Borno State and the nation at large.

“We appreciate everyone for not only believing in us but also for remaining patient, optimistic, and positive. There is nothing the unity of purpose cannot achieve.

“I urge us all to continue supporting every effort aimed at moving our constituency forward, beyond partisan politics,” Balami stated.
