Renowned Evangelist Uma Ukpai Passes Away At 80


Popular Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away.

In a statement released on Monday, his family confirmed that he died on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.

According to the family, his death marks a “glorious transition” from a lifetime of dedicated service to eternal rest.

Ukpai, celebrated as a spiritual general and a pioneering figure in faith, devoted more than six decades to evangelism, impactful preaching, and prophetic displays of God’s power.

His ministry touched millions of lives both in Nigeria and globally, shaping destinies and fostering spiritual growth across generations.

“He was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity.

“His teachings, prophetic insights, and mentorship have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire believers for years to come,” his family said.

Throughout his ministry, Ukpai became celebrated for his fervent evangelistic campaigns, transformative teachings, and unwavering commitment to equipping both clergy and lay leaders.

Apart from his spiritual work, he was revered as a caring husband, devoted father, and mentor to countless people who saw him as a guiding light in faith and life.

The family thanked God for Ukpai’s life and work, emphasizing that although they grieve his physical passing, they celebrate that he has “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”

They assured the public that details of his funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

Ukpai’s ministry, which spanned more than sixty years, leaves a lasting spiritual and social legacy, including churches, educational programs, and humanitarian initiatives that continue to impact communities worldwide.

The family stated that his life was a testament to the biblical truth: “To live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
