Remi Tinubu to unveil first Health Summit in Gombe – Daily Trust


Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will open a two-day Health Summit to be convened by the Gombe State Government between October 2 and 3, 2025.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Habu Dahiru, who announced this during a press briefing, onWednesday, said the two-day programme was designed to address key challenges in the health sector, identify solutions, and highlight the state government’s achievements.

He stated that it will also attract other prominent participants, including Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; development partners; health experts and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs); as well as Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Mrs Amina Mohammed, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate; who will join virtually.

He added that the summit will bring together key stakeholders from both health and non-health sectors, to deliberate on ways to improve the state’s healthcare system.

“The summit will also give us the opportunity to showcase the significant strides made such as policies, reforms, programmes and projects in healthcare delivery in Gombe state,” Dr Dahiru said.

The commissioner revealed that a major highlight of the summit will be the commissioning of significant health projects such as the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gombe, SDGs Women and Children’s Hospital and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area of the state.

Dr Dahiru added that the state would also launch an emergency health call centre and deploy ambulances to facilitate rapid response in emergencies, enabling families to quickly contact health authorities for timely evacuation to hospitals.

“The initiative is poised to revolutionise emergency healthcare services in the state. The summit marks a new phase in Gombe’s effort to strengthen its health system,” he said.
