Osun State council chairmen and councillors reinstated by the Court of Appeal last week have resumed office in their various secretariats.
Thesun.ng gathered that the council chairmen resumed around 8 a.m. on Monday, chanting victory songs.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) had urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to obey the court judgment and allow the reinstated chairmen to return to office.
On Monday morning, some local government offices were shut in line with directives from labour leaders instructing workers to stay at home.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had, on Sunday, directed local government workers to withdraw their services immediately.
In a statement by its chairperson, Christopher Arapasopo, the NLC said, “We hereby direct all our members working in all the LGAs in Osun State to withdraw their services effective Monday, 17th February 2025, by 12 a.m. (midnight).
“We won’t allow our members to return until their safety at work can be assured and guaranteed, which is their constitutional right.”
Similarly, the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), in a statement by its chairman, Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, ordered the closure of local government offices.
Thesun.ng gathered that a gunshot was heard at Osogbo Local Government, Oke-Baale, Osogbo, causing panic as people fled for safety.
