The President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Ekiti State Chapter, Dr Hameed Afolabi Bakare, has congratulated Muslim faithful on the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Muslim leader charged them to take advantage of the holy month for individual spiritual rejuvenation and general security and development of the country.
In the statement signed to mark the commencement of the 1446 A.H. Ramadan fasting.Alhaji Bakare who thanked Allah for sparing the lives of all Muslims to witness this edition of the Ramadan fasting , urged them to take maximum benefits offered by the season to pray fervently for themselves , Ekiti State, Nigeria and the world .
He appreciated Allah’s mercy on mankind and expressed optimism that things shall continually get better for Nigerians and our nation. Dr Bakare advised all to be patient and persevere in prayers adding that Prayer is the sword of the believer and that Allah does not ignore the prayers of true believers . He explained further that as good followers and citizens , it’s incumbent on us to pray for the success of our leaders at all times in order to make them successful and achieve our good desires through good governance.
The President of the Apex Islamic Body in the State thanked Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of Ekiti State for his populist policies and programmes which have impacted positively on the lives of all and sundry in the state .
Bakare who affirmed that Governor Oyebanji has really proven the shared prosperity mantra of his administration said everyone in Ekiti State has enjoyed dividends of democracy in diverse ways , either directly or indirectly through the various life – impacting policies, programmes and projects executed by the BAO administration across the State.
The religious leader commended the Governor for reaching out to the Imams and other Muslim leaders across the State at the commencement of this year’s Ramadan fasting. He assured the Governor and his Government of the unalloyed support and relentless prayers of the Muslim community towards the success of the Governor and his administration .
Bakare, who said Islam is a religion of peace, gave assurance of continued peaceful co-existence of Muslims with other religious practitioners in the state , called for mutual respect for the dictates and injunctions of all religions without undue interference by one in another’s.
The President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs said this will contribute to unity, love and peace in our society. He noted that God is one , adding that religion, as an avenue to serve God , should not be allowed to become a divisive mechanism. He therefore enjoined all to live peacefully in love and unity, saying it is the pathway to godliness.
Bakare advised all Muslim faithful to observe the holy month of Ramadan with the required dedication, devotion and spirituality , assuring them that Allah will reward them in multiple folds .
He prayed for good health, peace of mind , and abundant provision of Allah needed to sustain them throughout, and beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
