LAGOS – In a bid to strengthen intercultural ties between Nigeria and Syria, Ramadan Galleria, an annual marketplace, has been established to showcase and blend the rich cultural heritage of both countries.

According to Halima Mukhtar, founder of Ramadan Galleria, the platform aims to provide a supportive environment for local businesses, individuals, and communities to network and thrive.

Halima said, “Our goal is to establish a platform where both Nigerian and Syrian cultures can be showcased and blended, fostering stronger relationships between both communities.”

Halima, a social entrepreneur and philanthropist, was inspired to create Ramadan Galleria after recognizing the need for a platform that celebrates the rich cultural diversity of Nigeria and Syria.

“I strongly believe that Nigeria and Syria have rich cultures that offer opportunities for the betterment of our society,” Halima said.

“By providing a platform for local businesses to showcase their offerings, we hope to foster economic growth and cultural exchange between both countries.”

The inaugural edition of Ramadan Galleria recorded a resounding success, with a diverse range of vendors showcasing their products, including traditional clothing, jewellery, food, and handicrafts.

A portion of the profits from the event was donated to the Syrian mosque, demonstrating the initiative’s commitment to giving back to the community.

Beyond its economic benefits, Ramadan Galleria also aims to promote cultural understanding and exchanges between Nigeria and Syria.

By providing a platform for individuals and communities to connect and share their experiences, the initiative hopes to break down cultural barriers and foster a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.

“Ramadan Galleria is more than just a marketplace; it’s a celebration of our shared humanity,” Halima said.

“By coming together to share our cultures, traditions, and values, we can build bridges of understanding and create a more harmonious world.”

With its unique blend of culture, commerce, and community spirit, Ramadan Galleria is poised to become a flagship event in Nigeria’s cultural calendar, promoting intercultural understanding and cooperation between Nigeria and Syria.
