QNET, a direct selling wellness company has called on regulators and the media to distinguish legitimate direct selling from scams and protect young Nigerians from fraudulent practices.
The Regional General Manager, QNET Sub-Saharan Africa, Cherif Abdoulaye, said this at a two-day QNET Product Expo in Lagos on Saturday.
He noted that the company promotes product-based entrepreneurship, not recruitment schemes.
Abdoulaye said QNET’s name has been misused in several African countries to lure young people with false promises.
“Africa needs a regulatory environment like mature markets in Asia and Europe to shield ambitious youths from fraudsters,” Abdoulaye added.
Abdoulaye also highlighted QNET’s FinGreen Programme, which has trained over 1,500 young Nigerians in financial literacy, budgeting, and risk awareness
Also, the General Manager, QNET Nigeria, Ayokunmi Solesi, said the confusion between direct selling and Ponzi or pyramid schemes was a major challenge for the industry.
“We invited media partners to be our eyes and voice. They should interrogate products, understand certifications, and help the public distinguish fraudulent schemes from regulated direct selling,” he said.
“We have dismantled networks misusing our brand and retrained independent representatives on ethical practices. Our anti-scam campaign was recognised at the International Business Awards,” he said.
He advocated for mandatory product registration, codes of conduct, and penalties for misrepresentation to protect consumers.
Speaking on QNET’s products, Berni Gaksch, Regional Strategy and Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, said the wellness line addresses rising pollution, digital overload and stress, especially among young Nigerians.
He noted that Lagos today faces heavier traffic, increased industrial activity and higher exposure to air pollutants and electromagnetic fields compared with a decade ago.
“While technology is indispensable, it also quietly worsens sleep problems, anxiety and other health challenges,” Gaksch said.
He explained that QNET’s wellness products, including the BioDisc, Chi Pendant and E-Guard X, use structured water, geometrical patterns and resonance technologies to transform harmful radiation into beneficial energy and support the body’s natural balance.
Gaksch added that the products were backed by international certifications and ongoing research collaborations with institutions such as Covenant University in Nigeria. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
