Qatar To Host Summit As Regional Leaders Denounce Israeli Attack

Qatar is set to host a summit of Arab and Muslim leaders to denounce Israel’s recent attack on Hamas officials in Doha and demonstrate solidarity with the Gulf state.

The meeting, scheduled for Monday, will follow a ministerial session on Sunday to draft a resolution addressing the Israeli strike, the country’s foreign ministry confirmed.

“The summit reflects broad Arab and Islamic solidarity with the State of Qatar in the face of Israel’s cowardly aggression,” said Majed al-Ansari, spokesman for Qatar’s foreign ministry, quoted by the official QNA news agency on Saturday.

The Israeli strikes, which occurred on Tuesday, September 9, targeted Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, killing five members of the group and a Qatari security officer.

The attack drew condemnation from multiple countries, including Gulf monarchies allied with the United States, Israel’s main backer.

Among the leaders expected to attend are Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may also attend, though his presence at the meeting remains unconfirmed.
