PSC Debunks Fake Police Recruitment Portal After Tinubu’s Directive

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has denied reports that it has begun a fresh recruitment process for the Nigeria Police Force.

The denial was contained in a statement released by the Commission’s head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Njoku Kalu.

He explained that there is a fake recruitment portal trending on social media and warned members of the public against falling victim to such scams.

The PSC added that when recruitment officially commences, it will be announced through official channels.

“The Police Service Commission wishes to state categorically that no recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force is currently ongoing, and no such portal has been opened by the Commission.

“The public is strongly advised to disregard and ignore any such fake news and to only rely on information from official sources to avoid falling victim to scams.

“Any purported recruitment portal not published on the Commission’s official website is fraudulent and should be reported to the police accordingly,” the statement noted.

Naija News reports that the denial comes days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a national security emergency and ordered the massive recruitment of the Police and the Army.

In a statement he personally signed, the President announced key measures to tackle insecurity.

These key measures include:

– Authorises urgent additional recruitment into the Armed Forces and Police.

– Nigerian Police Force to recruit an extra 20,000 officers (total planned increase to 50,000).

– NYSC camps to be used as additional police training depots.
