Proper Ohanaeze Ndigbo Election ‘ll Hold Soon – Chief Mba

The election of the Igbo socio cultural group, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Oyo state chapter will soon be held contrary to the charade, sham and melodrama which took place on December 14, 2024 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan by a group masquerading as Oyo Ohanaeze political worldwide.

Speaking through the Vice President, Chief Ndidi Nzeako, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Oyo state chapter, Chief Sir C.S.P Godwin Mba stated that the charade which was labeled Oyo Oha Worldwide election should not been seen as one because the Chief organizers Honorable Innocent Tallest Nwosu is a public servant of Oyo state government which is not a stakeholder in Igbo matters neither is the servant a member of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Oyo state chapter just as his town union Obosi is not one.

He portrayed the election as one which was a harbinger of violence as the organizers initially named it political Ohanaeze after which it settled for Ohanaeze worldwide adding that the objective was to drag every Igbo man to the same party with the state government.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo President observed that this development will not bode well for Ndigbo in Oyo state because other political parties might begin to perceive every Igbo man to be a politican in support of the ruling party in the same just as the Lagos state government led Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu perceived Igbo based in the state to be in alliance with the Labour Party (LP) because of the candidates which had his maternal roots in Igbo land.

Chief Mba noted that the election besides being a misnomer contravened the constitution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo which stressed membership through town union while positions are evenly distributed among states for sense of belonging observing that Ohanaeze Worldwide has its President, Vice President, Woman Leader and Secretary from Anambra states contrary to Ohanaeze constitution while everyone was free to vote provided he or she has voters card despite not knowing whom they were voting for.

The President submitted duress was also applied as traders from Iwo road were compelled to vote or pay a fine of N50, 000 noting Ohanaeze Ndigbo Oyo whose estranged members had returned back would soon organize an all embracing election with the Ohanaeze Ndigbo headquarters in Parklane, Enugu in attendance contrary to what obtained when Ohanaeze worldwide head its election where the self styled South west President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo supervised the election without the permission of the officers who should observe and report.

He also noted the most absurd was that the tenure and term of the executive officers of the current Ohanaeze Ndigbo was yet to lapse before they started organizing an election which they do not have any right or locus standi to organize any Ohanaeze election.
