Prominent Nigerian lawmaker loses son, grandson in 48 hours

Tragedy has hit the family of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Patrick Abba Moro, following the death of his son and grandson within a span of two days.

Senator Moro’s son, Victor, who had recently completed his studies in Turkey, reportedly returned to Nigeria to begin his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. Sadly, he died in a fatal motor accident along the Mararaba axis in Nasarawa State, just 24 hours after the burial of his father’s grandson.

Victor was said to be on a personal trip when the tragic accident occurred, throwing the family and their associates into deep mourning.

Reacting to the devastating news, the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, extended his condolences to Senator Moro, describing the incident as a heartbreaking double tragedy that words could hardly express.

In a condolence message signed by his media aide, Terver Akase, Ortom said:

“The death of Victor Moro, a young man full of promise who had just completed his studies in Turkey and returned home to serve his country under the NYSC, only for his life to be cut short in a fatal motor accident, is especially devastating.”

He added that the tragedy had not only plunged the Moro family into grief but also saddened friends, associates, and admirers of the senator, whom he described as a dedicated public servant and leader.

“This is indeed a moment of deep pain and sorrow for my brother and friend, Senator Abba Moro. No words are enough to console a father in this kind of situation. My heart goes out to him and the entire family. I pray that God, in His infinite mercy, will comfort them and grant the souls of the departed eternal rest,” Ortom said.

He further prayed for God’s strength and fortitude for Senator Moro and his family to bear the irreplaceable loss.
