On Friday, August 22, 2025, presidential aides Bayo Onanuga and Temitope Ajayi visited Kisarazu, Japan, recently named Nigeria’s official hometown.

The visit followed the conclusion of the ninth Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD9), where Japan formally designated Kisarazu as a settlement hub for Nigerians.

Onanuga emphasized the city’s significance, noting its role as the training base for Nigeria’s Olympic team during the Tokyo 2021 Games.

“After TICAD9, we explored Kisarazu, Japan’s designated hometown for Nigeria. The city hosted our Olympic team in 2021,” he posted on X, sharing a video of the city center, including the office of Mayor Watanabe.
