“Present Northern Region Is Weak; Can’t Speak With One Voice” – Tanko Yakasai

Elder statesman Tanko Yakasai on Tuesday, stated that northern Nigeria cannot speak with one voice due to its large and diverse population.

Speaking with newsmen, Yakasai emphasized that differing opinions are natural among such a vast population.

Yakasai dismissed calls for a premature end to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, advocating instead for the completion of its tenure and policies.

“I am one of those that have been in the forefront in support of continuity in government,” he added.

He stressed the importance of continuity for national stability. “We want a government that completes its constitutionally allowed tenure and policies,” Yakasai said.

He added, “A Government that hands over to whoever the people decide should continue,” highlighting the need for orderly transitions.

The elder statesman also endorsed democracy as the most effective system for governance.

He explained that it allows for stability in managing a country’s affairs, which is essential for national development.

“We don’t want a situation where a government’s tenure is cut short,” he noted, reiterating the need for orderly transitions and the completion of ongoing projects.
