Former Liverpool and Tottenham striker Peter Crouch has made a bold prediction ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Sunderland, tipping the league leaders to suffer a shock defeat on Saturday evening.
Sunderland will welcome Mikel Arteta’s men to the Stadium of Light in what promises to be one of the weekend’s most intense Premier League fixtures.
The Black Cats are riding on confidence after holding Everton to a draw last time out, while Arsenal come into the encounter fresh from a comfortable win over Burnley.
Speaking on The Peter Crouch Podcast, the former England international said he believes Sunderland have what it takes to cause an upset in front of their home fans.
“I think going there, the crowd will be up for it. The players, it is their cup final,” Crouch said. “I need something big and I am going to go with Sunderland 1-0. I am willing to die on this sword.”
The match kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Nigerian time, with Arsenal currently sitting top of the table on 25 points after 10 games. Sunderland, meanwhile, occupy fourth place with 18 points and are unbeaten in four of their last five league outings.
