Herdsmen kill two, injure one in Kwande

Makurdi—It was a sorrowful weekend in Benue State following the drowning of a medical student and another student of Benue State University, Makurdi in River Benue.
Also, son of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, national ex-officio, Prince Yandev Amaabai, was murdered in Gboko, just as suspected herdsmen reportedly killed two others and injured one in Kwande Local Government Area of the state.
Vanguard gathered that the two students, a 100 level medical student and only child of his parents, Emmanulla Mson, and Kole Christopher, a Computer Science undergraduate, drowned when they, with three others, went to swim in the river near the university’s water works.
An eyewitness disclosed that the students had visited the area to play football, swim and to enjoy the cool weather at the river bank.
“While they were swimming, a strong current pulled the two victims deeper into the river but three of the students were able to swim back to shore, unfortunately the missing two did not make it back,” he said.
Following the development, a search operation was launched by the authorities of the institution and the body of Kole Christopher was found at the river bank and also identified by his family while the search for Emmanulla was still ongoing.

Meanwhile, suspected political thugs, Saturday night, reportedly shot and killed Orkuma Amaabai, son of PDP national ex-officio, Prince Yandev Amaabai in Gboko.
The deceased, who was apparently trailed by his assailants, was killed while on his way back to his home after a sit-out with friends in the town. A family source disclosed that his remains had been deposited at TBT Hospital mortuary.
Father of the victim, Prince Amaabai, was director in charge of security of the state PDP campaign council in the last general election.
Herdsmen kill 2, injure one in Kwande
Also, two persons were reportedly killed while one was seriouly injured by suspected herdsmen in Div, Kwande Local Government Area of the state.
According to Senior Special Assistant to the state governor on New Media and an indigene of the area, Mr. Solomon Amande: “The three victims are Igenkor Ashongo, Tyover Yatse and Terver Ordiwer. They were in their hut eating and resting when the herdsmen, who are allegedly working with Jukun youths, sneaked in and opened fire on them.
“Terver Ordiwer was hit on his leg, he fell and pretended to have died, the other two ran for their lives but the armed men chased them into the bush and slaughtered them after which they beat a retreat.
“When our people got wind of the development and mobilised to the area, Terver was discovered alive and taken to hospital but the other two were killed in cold blood by the marauders, it is indeed saddening and condemnable.”
Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the drowning of the Benue varsity students and the killings in Kwande, stressing that the matter had been reported and investigation was ongoing.Source:
