The Oredo Chapter of Edo State's APC has endorsed incumbent Governer Godwin Obaseki as the party's sole candidate for the state's 2020 governorship election.
The leaders and members of the party, in a meeting, while lauding the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of his visionary leadership and his efforts in pushing the party to greater heights which was evident in the recently concluded general elections.
A press statement from the party concerning the endorsement of the governor was released. The statement showed that apart from Oredo APC, the Edo in Safe Hands initiative along with the party executives also threw their weight behind his endorsement, citing that his leadership has been of immense benefit to the party seeing how they won all 24 seats of the state assembly in the just concluded elections.
The endorsements is causing some ripples among some aspirants who are believed to be waiting for a nod from the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to launch their ambition.
Three persons said to be interested in the position are Oshiomhole’s former deputy, Hon Pius Odubu, 2012 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Major General Charles Airhiavbere, retd, and a former Minister of State for Works, Dr Chris Ogienmwonyi. Of these three only Airhiavbere has publicly indicated interest to contest.
Barely 24 hours after these endorsements, some members of the APC in Oredo started kicking claiming that the issue of adoption was not in the agenda in the said meeting.
It was gathered that when somebody in that meeting was made to move the motion, it was not seconded.
