EPL: Chelsea vs Cardiff City: Team news, injuries, possible lineups

By - - [ Update ]

Chelsea will on Saturday afternoon clash with Cardiff City in the English Premier League (EPL) fixture at the Stamford Bridge.

The West London head to the game following a 2-0 victory against Bournemouth in their last EPL encounter.

The Blues manager, Maurizio Sarri has no new injury worries in his squad ahead of the match.

Pedro impressed from the bench against Bournemouth by netting the key opening goal, taking his scoring tally to three in four matches.

If the Spaniard comes into the side, Willian is the most likely candidate to make way out wide as Eden Hazard is undroppable when fully fit.

Marcos Alonso has started the season on fire by playing a direct part in three league goals, but reports suggest that Sarri is not entirely happy with his central-defensive pairing of Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz.

Meanwhile, Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City head to the game following a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in their last EPL encounter.

Cardiff have lost ten of their last twelve meetings with Chelsea.

Striker, Kenneth Zohore has not done enough to merit a starting spot, meaning that Danny Ward and Bobby Reid could continue their partnership in attack, flanked by Victor Camarasa and Junior Hoilett in a lopsided 4-4-2 formation.

Josh Murphy and Aron Gunnarsson are still battling with fitness, while Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is a confirmed absentee until Christmas time.

Chelsea’s potential starting X1: Kepa; Alonso, Luiz, Rudiger, Azpilicueta; Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante; Hazard, Morata, Pedro

Cardiff City’s potential starting XI: Etheridge; Manga, Morrison, Bamba, Bennett; Camarasa, Arter, Ralls, Hoilett; Reid, Ward

The kick-off time for the match is 3pm.
