CALABAR-The Acting Chairman of Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Mr. Victor Muruako, has called on construction companies operating in Cross Rivers State to make ‘safety’ their priority in road construction.
Muruako, who made this known after verifying capital projects with his team on Tuesday in Cross River, expressed dissatisfaction with the drainage system constructed in Ugep community in Yakurr Local Government Area of the state.
He said that safety was not considered in the construction of the drainage system which is located at the Ugep market.
The Acting Chairman, who inspected the Ugep-Alesi and the Iyamoyong-Ugep-Ikot Okpara federal roads in Cross River, observed that some of the road portions had no driving signs as well as other important road signs for the safety of commuters.
He advised the company to improve on the quality of work in road and drainage construction with a view to get the federal government’s attention in releasing funds to them.
