The Federal Government has proclaimed Wednesday, June 12, 2019, as Public Holiday.

This is in accordance with the establishment into law of June 12 to be praised every year as Democracy Day in Nigeria,

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Barr. Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriah, made the assertion and praised Nigerians at home and abroad for the entrenchment of equitable guideline in the nation.

An announcement issued on Monday by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Interior, Mohammed Manga said that the Permanent Secretary "approached Nigerians to keep on appreciating the penance made by saints of majority rules system, especially the individuals who lost their lives in the battle for the realization of Democratic Governance in Nigeria so as to make the nation a superior spot for all."

The changeless secretary further required the "joint effort and collaboration of all Nigerians with the Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari towards accomplishing our aggregate desire for the solidarity, harmony and financial improvement of Nigeria" and wished "all Nigerians at home and abroad an upbeat Democracy Day Celebration."
