Police Summon Sujimoto CEO Over Alleged $556,000 Fraud

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has summoned Olasijibomi Ogundele, CEO of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, for questioning over allegations of advance fee fraud and criminal misappropriation.

A letter dated October 16, 2025, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Yahaya Gambo on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, demanded Ogundele’s appearance on October 20, 2025.

The letter, obtained by TheCable, noted that Ogundele failed to honor a prior invitation on September 29, 2025, warning that further non-compliance would be treated as obstruction of justice under the Police Act 2020 and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015.

The summons stems from a petition filed on August 18, 2025, by lawyer Ayokunle Erin on behalf of Olatokunbo Cole, who accused Ogundele of defrauding him in a property deal.

Erin alleged that in 2020, Ogundele marketed a three-bedroom flat in the “Leonardo by Sujimoto Luxury Apartments” to Cole for $594,474, promising high resale value.

Cole paid 90% of the cost, amounting to $556,000, by April 24, 2022, with the balance due upon project completion.

However, Cole found no construction progress during a site visit and received no satisfactory explanation from Ogundele.

Instead of addressing the delays, Ogundele allegedly pitched a new project, “The Lucrezia by Sujimoto,” at a discounted price of $2 million, claiming it offered better returns. Cole declined, suspecting fraud, and Ogundele subsequently became unresponsive.

The petition claims Ogundele misrepresented the Leonardo project from the outset, using brochures and documents to induce payment with fraudulent intent.

Cole alleges the project never existed, and his funds were misappropriated by Ogundele and Sujimoto Construction Limited.
