Police Recover Stolen Hilux Van, Arrest Female Suspect In Kano


The Kano State Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota brand Hilux van and arrested a woman who allegedly attempted to smuggle the vehicle out of Nigeria through the border to Niger Republic.

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the arrest followed a coordinated intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS).

He said the police received a report on September 29, 2025, from the owner of the Hilux with registration number GWA 998 AR, which was stolen along Ikeja Road in Fagge local government area of Kano State.

“The Police operatives attached to the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) swung into action and, through intelligence-led technical operation along Airport Road, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, arrested one Adama Hassan, a 35-year-old female suspect of Deba LGA, Gombe State, on 6th October 2025, while attempting to conceal the stolen vehicle en route to Niger Republic” the statement said.

The suspect reportedly confessed to receiving the vehicle from a male accomplice from Lafiyan Lamurde LGA, Adamawa State, who remained at large.

The statement revealed efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and recover additional stolen vehicles.

The Command commended the swift response of its officers and appreciated the cooperation of the public for providing valuable information that aided the recovery.
