The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that it’s operatives have successfully neutralized three suspected members of Lakurawa terrorists tormenting the people of Gorun Yamma village in Dandi LGA of Kebbi State.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, “in its ongoing onslaught to rid Kebbi State of violent crimes, the state command has recorded another remarkable breakthrough.
“On the 3rd October, 2025 at about 1245hrs, credible intelligence received revealed, that a gang of suspected Lakurawa bandits have stormed Gorun Yamma village in Dandi LGA of Kebbi State. On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Kamba, SP Mohd Bello Lawal immediately mobilized a combined team of Policemen and vigilantes to the scene and engaged the suspected bandits into a fierce gun duel which lasted for hours.
” As a result, three suspected Lakurawa bandits were neutralized, while several others escaped to the forest with fatal gunshot wounds. Similarly, one unregistered red Honda motorcycle AKA Boko Haram was recovered from the scene as exhibits.
“In the light of the above, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani had commended the DPO kamba and his team for their diligence, bravery and swift response to distress call which prevented the unscrupulous elements from perpetrating their evil intentions. He urged them to sustain the existing synergy amongst them with a view to curbing the emerging activities of Lakurawa terror group and other violent crimes in the state”.
The PPRO stated that the CP had directed the DPO kamba to urgently transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation.
“CP Bello M Sani reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of the peace loving people of Kebbi State, appealing to members of the public to continue supporting the Police operations by reporting any suspicious person(s) to the nearest police station or other security agencies for prompt response”.
