Police Nab 153 Suspects, Recover Motorcycle, Hard Drugs In Jigawa


The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 153 suspects and seized thousands of illicit drugs, cash, and a motorcycle in a major crackdown on crime.

This was disclosed in a statement on Monday in Dutse, the state capital, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.

According to the statement, “The operation, coordinated across all 42 police divisions in the state, targeted criminals’ hideouts, black spots, and drug joints in a sustained effort to rid Jigawa of crime and criminality.”

Adam stated that the arrests were connected to various offenses, including drug trafficking, possession of illegal substances, and other related criminal activities.

The statement reads that “among the exhibits recovered were over 3,100 Exol tablets, nearly 3,000 D5 tablets, almost 1,800 Tramadol capsules, cannabis in three blocks and 943 wraps, along with other drugs including diazepam, rubber solution, syrup bottles, and pregabalin. Additionally, cash amounting to N228,570 and one boxer motorcycle were seized.”

According to the Jigawa police spokesperson, the suspects have been arraigned in court after thorough investigations.

However, Adam noted in the statement that the operation reflects the command’s proactive approach to combating crime, emphasizing its ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal drug networks and maintain security across the state.

In the ongoing fight against crime, the command appealed to residents to promptly report any suspicious activities, assuring them of full confidentiality and immediate action.

Furthermore, the command vowed to continue its relentless efforts until criminal activities and drug peddling are completely stamped out.

The police spokesperson also urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and support ongoing efforts to keep Jigawa safe for everyone.

He cautioned criminal elements to turn away from their illegal acts or be met with the full weight of the law, adding that the police will sustain close collaboration with residents to safeguard Jigawa’s peace and security.
