Kebbi State Police Command successfully thwarted a bandit raid on Zodi community in Zuru Local Government Area on Saturday, neutralizing several attackers and retrieving rustled animals.
Personnel from the No. 36 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Birnin Kebbi responded promptly to a distress call from the area, according to CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the command’s Public Relations Officer.
The operatives clashed with the bandits in an intense firefight, resulting in the deaths of multiple assailants. Surviving bandits escaped into nearby forests with injuries, abandoning their fallen comrades.
A follow-up search operation yielded two motorcycles, along with 96 cows and 45 sheep that had been stolen during the attempted attack.
The recovered livestock has been returned to the Zodi village head for redistribution to their owners, while the motorcycles were transferred to the Zuru Divisional Police Officer for ongoing investigations.
