Police dismiss report of bandits’ attack on ECWA church in Gombe



The Gombe State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that bandits attacked the ECWA Church in Kashere, Akko Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement signed by Buhari Abdullahi, Command’s spokesperson, and issued to journalists, the police said the report was false and intended to cause unnecessary panic.

“For the sake of setting the record straight, the Divisional Police Officer in Pindiga and the Officer in Charge of the Kashere Police Outstation immediately reached out to one of the church elders,” the statement said.

According to the police, the church elder confirmed during the Hausa service that no attack occurred at the church.

Abdullahi added that police officers were present at the church, providing routine security coverage.

He said the Command views the circulation of such misinformation as irresponsible and warned that those behind it would be investigated and sanctioned.

The Command urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that it remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
