The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed that the truck involved in a fatal accident along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway was not owned by Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), but by Visco Investment Global Limited, a third-party operator.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the police disclosed that two separate crashes occurred on 3 September 2025 along the Ozalla/4-Corner axis, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and leaving another 10 hospitalised.
According to the report, the first accident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. and involved a Howo truck loaded with cement and branded Visco Investment Global, a Toyota Corolla, a Foton bus, and a Daihatsu Hijet mini bus. The impact triggered a fire that engulfed the truck head and the Corolla, killing five occupants of the car, while another passenger in the mini bus also lost his life.
Later that day, around 3 p.m., a second crash occurred at the same axis when a Sino truck carrying cement, owned by Global Investment, rammed into a tricycle, instantly killing its four occupants. Police said 10 other victims of both incidents are still receiving treatment in the hospital.

Describing the crashes as “avoidable,” the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, ordered a thorough investigation and urged motorists to adhere strictly to safety regulations, particularly during the high-risk Ember Months.
Amid widespread reports linking the tragedy to Dangote Industries, the company issued a statement distancing itself from the truck.
“Investigations have revealed that the truck belongs to Visco Investment Global Limited,” Dangote said, stressing that it had no connection to the vehicle. The company further expressed concern over the “increasing spread of misinformation” linking it to accidents without proper verification.
Dangote also disclosed that it was working with relevant agencies to determine how the unauthorised use of its brand identity occurred.
“We categorically reject any attempt to exploit such tragedies for malicious or financial gain,” the company said, while reaffirming its commitment to corporate responsibility, safety, and integrity.
