The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspects in the Ogwashi-Uku region of the state for allegedly possessing a firearm during a patrol operation.
This was revealed in a statement on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe.
Edafe stated that on Wednesday, the Divisional Police Officer of Ogwashi-Uku Division, Israel Okomoyon, led a joint patrol of police officers and local vigilantes.

He explained that the team stopped three individuals who were on a motorcycle, ”The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Ibekwe ‘m’ (25yrs), Victor Chibuzor ‘m’ (25yrs), and Zakaria Joro ‘m’ (25yrs), all residents of Ogwashi-Uku, were subjected to a search, which led to the recovery of an English pistol loaded with two (2) rounds of live ammunition.”
Edafe stated that the suspects could not give a satisfactory reason for possessing the firearm.
He added that the suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation.
In a different operation on 13 September 2025, officers from the Delta State Eagle Net Special Squad, under Danyaya Yunusa and working with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service, raided a hotel along the Asaba/Benin Expressway in Agbor.
“The raid led to the arrest of ten (10) adult suspects, including Markwuye Peter ‘m’ of Ifeanchukwu Street, Agbor, identified as the owner of the hotel.
“A substantial quantity of illicit drugs was recovered during the operation,” the statement partly read.
Edafe confirmed that the suspects remain in custody as authorities conduct further investigations to uncover the extent of their criminal activities.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, reiterated the force’s dedication to ensuring safety across the state.
“These breakthroughs underscore the Command’s renewed operational drive, backed by intelligence, community collaboration, and swift response mechanisms aimed at restoring peace and safety across Delta State,” the statement concluded.
