He said, “The arrest, which took place on August 31, 2025, followed credible intelligence that led operatives to Bachaka cattle market, where a 42-year-old suspect, Salihu Umar, from Dogon Dutse, Niger Republic, was apprehended.

“The recovered cows belonged to one Usman Aliyu of Zogirma, Bunza Local Government Area, whose herd of 68 cows had been rustled by suspected Lakurawa bandits on August 20 and smuggled across the border into the Niger Republic.”

The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, praised the Divisional Police Officer of Bachaka and his team for conducting “a brave and intelligence-led operation,” urging them to maintain the momentum.

“He directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi for further discreet investigation, with a view to apprehending other fleeing gang members and recovering the remaining stolen cows.

“CP Sani reiterated the command’s commitment to fighting violent crimes in Kebbi State, assuring residents of continued efforts to maintain peace and stability.

“He also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, accurate information to the police and other security agencies to enable prompt responses to security threats.”
