The Rivers State Police Command has taken into custody 48-year-old Emmanuel George for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Port Harcourt.
The incident took place on September 6 at Mini Orlu, off Ada-George Road, when the 12-year-old girl, who was visiting her aunt for the holidays, was allegedly attacked while coming back from an errand.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the command’s spokesperson, stated on Monday that George, a native of Akwa Ibom residing in Port Harcourt, allegedly lured the girl into a stationary tricycle before assaulting her.

She said, “The suspect dragged the victim into a stationary tricycle, popularly called Keke Napep, tied her hands, covered her mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her before fleeing the scene.”
Iringe-Koko stated that following a distress call, the CP Strike Force quickly intervened and escorted the girl to the Police Hospital for medical assessment.
“At about 2200hrs the same day, the suspect was apprehended through coordinated intelligence,” she said.
The police spokesperson revealed that items seized from the scene included a bundle of rope reportedly used to bind the girl’s hands, a portion of fufu, and the blue tricycle.
“The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation.
“He is currently in custody alongside the exhibits while a discreet investigation continues,” Iringe-Koko added.
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, reiterated the command’s firm commitment to ensuring that all criminals in the state are brought to justice.
He also advised parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards, warning that such predators may be lurking within their communities.
